Adding immigrants without scaling up the infrastructure will be harmful to society. Already, housing stocks, schools, roads, the utilities grids are all lagging and nothing seems likely to fix them. Adding more people putting more demand on the existing infrastructure will cause worse outcomes. Already we pollute too much, emit too much CO2, why would we want more people here adding to our emissions. We need to be more careful how we grow our economy and society. We need to take more control over who gets to immigrate. We should only accept immigrants where we don’t already have enough people. I don’t think there is a single major city in this country that needs more low skilled labor, they need more low cost housing not more people looking for it.

We could fix the problems that make immigration unwelcome but it does not seem likely we will so until we are ready for them the immigrants need to stay away.
