After my first wife passed away I was dating and retired. One women with whom I had multiple dates asked me if I would help her with my mortgage payments. I might have missed some of the context of the conversation and I am often too literal. I said no without really understanding the question. I was retired and had plenty of money, I owned my own house free and clear.

In hindsight think what she was asking was if I lived with her would I help with the bills. The answer to that question would have been "sure, of course."
