Some of us can and do have pleasant exchanges of divergent views. Some of us can't or won't.

Some have too much to lose or fear they will lose if they don't stand firm. They have no interest in opposing views and no intertest in civil discourse with those who disagree. They are close minded, and their minds are made up. Even some of the open minded just can't break with their tribe.
