Almost half of likely voters are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, evangelical, a millionaire, against big government, anti-tax, pro-life, or a gun rights advocate. This is the big tent Republican Coalition. Many of them are single issue voters. What is under the Progressive Tent that does not exclude most of those voters? Can you let gun rights advocates or homophobes into the Progressive Tent? How can Progressives build a majority? It is the Progressives who need a Dictatorship not Conservatives. Have you noticed the convergence of Populism and Conservativism. Conservatism is more popular than Progressivism.

I know poor people barely getting by who won't accept a handout from the government and they vote for Trump.

Trump and Conservatives get the White Pride vote every time.

I am sure somewhere there are Progressive who are also realists but most Progressives seem to have no understanding of what is possible and keep tilting at windmills. Idealism will not beat realism.
