Amazon did not originate this practice. For a century it has been call the assembly line or just the line. A bunch of workers tied to machines and expected to keep up with the machines. It has been a trope for many a tragic comedy for a long time. In the beginning it paid a living wage, just enough for food, clothes and shelter of the most miserable sort. No eating out or health insurance. Maybe a 10-cent movie once in a while. You probably worked 6 days a week 10 hours a day just to survive. People kept their meager savings in a coffee can or sugar bowl.

If you keep fighting maybe things will keep getting better with each generation. Factory and warehouse work was like that even before Amazon. Bringing back unions would help.
