An interesting analysis, thanks. Regarding this part:

"in the absence of a clear definition of the difference between lawful and unlawful intercourse, of which prostitution and fornication - sex outside of marriage- examples of unlawful intercourse"

In most of the developed world, fornication is not unlawful, and, in many jurisdictions, prostitution is either legal or decriminalized. I see clear definitions at least wherever I have traveled.

A little more honesty on the part of those participating in dating would be helpful, except of course for those wanting to "put one over on their dating partners." I would gladly pay for a first date to break the ice with no expectation of sex as long as it provided honesty and clarity regarding each of ours's expectations and desires. I would not expect this date to be a 5 star establishment. Such a date could be pleasant and enjoyable even if we find we aren't looking for the same thing. Maybe I am weird.
