At best a strategic victory but a tactical defeat. The conflict is now front-page news, (strategic victory) it will fade to the back pages as soon as something new come up to replace it. The tactical defeat is all the death and destruction in Gaza, nobody in the region will be better off (neither Israeli nor Palestinian). The stalemate will continue with Israel chipping away at the Palestinian people and land holdings but not accomplishing anything meaningful or anything leading to a lasting peace. We should expect this to repeat every few years.
