Because I am sick of all the doomsayers. Yes, solar will power AC. Not for a whole house but for a room to a temp that will keep you alive. I will have power and fuel. I will be prepared with solar and a way to make fuel. Not a lot but I have always been frugal. I can be happy with a lot less than others, it seems. Not everyone survives even the current crisises. If you don't have AC sit your butt down in a cool body of water. Water temperatures rarely get above 95 even in your apocalyptical future.
