Careening, meaning "to move at top speed," often in a reckless or out-of-control manner. This seems hyperbolic. Most of the projections put collapse, if it happens out in the 2100-timeframe. Some of the most extreme projections show scary events in the 2030's to 2050's. I do agree that we don't seem to be affecting the control we could possibly have but, things are not out of control they are just in the controls are in the wrong hands. I suspect we are in for a hard landing (death and destruction) for the riffraff and a much softer landing for the elites. Are the tyrannical neo-liberal, conservative, plutocratic, oligarchic, robber baron elites manipulating the crisis to their own despicable ends?

Even if the riffraff wakes up, could they actually do anything to prevent their demise and subjugation to the elites. I mean, the elites are not clueless. They might publicly deny all sorts of things, but they lie, and they know the truth better than most. They would not be the elites if they told the truth, it just does not work that way.
