Contact tracing works in a manner of speaking. Contact tracing is working in the factory were I normally work. People with contact history are quarantine for two weeks (can’t come to work) we have not had any new cases for more than two weeks. Zero workers have been infected on the job, with maybe one disputed exception and we are in New Orleans, a hot hot spot. They are not tested they just volunteer their contacts and everyone is kept off the site. Two weeks with no symptoms and you can come back to work. It can work without or with limited testing.

Herd immunity. Has it been proved to be a thing for this virus? I see anecdotes to the contrary.
