Deflation does not cause recessions and depressions; recessions and depressions cause deflation. Zero and negative interest rates are a real thing and not a catastrophe. Many Muslims believe charging and paying interest is sinful.

Anyway, the current growth trajectories are going to doom the planet. We need degrowth not more growth until we can create a sustainable circular economy.
