Different strokes. I fold/hang/put away the laundry in the laundry room and bedroom, makes for less handling plus does not take 10 minutes and hanging laundry must be hung right away to avoid wrinkles, I have a clothes rod for hangers in the laundry room. When doing sheets, towels etc. I strip the bed wash and remake the bed all in one go. I don't change the sheets and wash them later. I can, I have spares, but almost never do. Again, why handle them multiple times, no folding required, off and back one again in about an hour unless I hang them on the line.
I have almost nothing that gets folded, shirts and pants get hung, underwear, shorts and socks, just lay flat in the drawer. Only towels, napkins and face clothes get folded. I used to help fold my wives' clothes, they had too many to hang and they "dirtied" a lot of clothes. Second wife, if she just tried something on it went into the hamper to be washed. Me, I wear my jeans/shorts/etc. for a few days before they go into the hamper unless they get dirty.
