Disagreement is the path to greater understanding. An author might write something I disagree with but when questioned further discussion leads to clarity and possible agreement. Often the writer was unclear about what they were advocating, did not mean what they said they meant something kind of like what they said and it was something I could agree with.

This is not to disregard the possibility that the writer's beliefs were subtly modified by the discussion/disagreement or that my beliefs were similarly adjusted.

Like the author of this story indicates, disagreements between intelligent individuals can lead to better things. We can also agree to disagree without being disagreeable/nasty.

I am not always right, but I am pretty sure we would all be better off if everyone at least hears me out. I am not upset if someone continues to disagree with me but "a word to the wise" is often sufficient. I am unlikely to repeat myself. If you did not get it or at least comeback with a good question. Well, no point in belaboring the point.
