My apologies. I will admit my ignorance regarding the views of a Nordic social democrat. If we had true democracy in the U.S. we would also be a social democracy. We are ruled by a two party dictatorship in which at different times and in different places there seems to be no difference between the two parties.

When you say liberalism, that word has lost its meaning in the U.S. as its meaning changed too many times. To those on the right it means socialism.

I like to think of the left as Progressives. That does not mean I identify with them but I know where they want to progress to. The rate of change they desire is beyond what the culture will allow even if we had true democracy.

You probably know this but I still think it is worth saying. Americans, east, west, north, south, city, rural are more different than. English, Swedes, Germans, French, Italians, Spanish, Greeks, Poles, Checs etc. You may have different customs and languages but you mostly or at least more commonly think alike. Just one tiny example, the Germans feel bad about the Holocaust. To many American do not feel bad about slavery. It is painful to see racism on the rise in Europe.

Keep writing, you are doing good things.
