Fantasy. It will not happen voluntarily. It will not happen fast enough. You need to call it what it is.

Degrowth means Global Recession. We are not talking a little, you know two quarters of negative GDP growth type recession we are talking a forever negative GDP growth type recession, a permanent recession.

Oh, it would be wonderful to have such a managed degrowth with all its potential for social justice. It ain't happening. Sad.

Reality, it will happen but not because we get the governments to do it but because we will just run low on resources. It will happen to late to avoid climate change impacts, it will happen because of climate change impacts.

It will not be the utopia you suggest, it will be an apocalyptical dystopia.

The rich and powerful will protect their luxurious lifestyles until the ecosystems collapse and beyond.

I am still waiting for someone to suggest something that might be possible instead of a bunch of pie in the sky.

I have long advocated for simple carbon rationing at the consumer level, pretty easy and almost painless but even it does not have enough support to make it happen.

We just have to wait and see how bad it gets before and real actions take place. It will be too little too late but it will be interesting.
