Here is where I think you are going off track.
"Most of us worry about the same things"
For some people, many people it is not "how are we going to pay the bills? How are we going to get through the day?" They worry more about maintaining their rights and privileges and stopping others they think are evil.
They don't want to lose their gun rights and they want their taxes reduced. They want to stop abortions by law not culture. They want drug users jailed not cured. They don't worry "are we doing enough to support our friends and family?" They are sure they are doing enough about friends and family.
Here is another place you and they have it wrong. "As a Christian, it’s likely this man and I worship the same God," I am sure that if you or he worship a God it is the same God. There is but one God the creator of all that is. Where you differ is what book you use as a guide and how that book is interpreted.
And then there is this:
"he isn’t a real Christian.” I wonder if either of you are real Christians, really hove to the love of Jesus, really practice the teachings of Jesus not just go to a Christian church and try to follow the ten commandments. Jesus was about so much more than just not sinning. Jesus was about loving everyone even your enemies.
