Hey, sorry but I am a believer in "Murphy's Law" if anything can go wrong it will. You are right about being like rice. The aphorism I use is the price of freedom is vigilance or the price of justice is vigilance. It is a constant battle of good vs. evil. Being right does not guarantee you will even have a voice.

Sadly evil is more powerful than good so good relies on numbers. Yes, I believe that people are more good than evil but just like one rotten apple will spoil the whole barrel, it does not take many evil people to make society an evil place.

I all believe I am not telling you anything you don't already understand better than I. I think you are the torch bearer for a positive message we all hope and pray will be the truth.

I worked in our nation's space program since the beginning of the Space Shuttle program. We had two huge catastrophes, more than a dozen lives lost along with billions of dollars. My father died, my wife died, my mother died, my stepdaughter died, my brother-in-law killed himself, my house was severly damaged in hurricane Katrina, I am now getting divorced from my second wife. In everyone's life trouble will find you. You need to embrace the struggle and prepare for some bad times. If you live long enough almost everyone you love will die.

I think people kill themselves because they are not prepared for the hard times that will come to us all. My wife whom I am divorcing thinks I have no soul because I don't show visible grief. She does not understand. I know when I get a pet, I am going to have to bury it someday. Joy is just grief postponed.

Oh, still get the pet and love it to death. Just know life is usually too short.

My mother's eldest sister out live her 8 siblings. She was a devout Catholic and prayed daily for God to come take her and end her life. She as not really suffering. She was mostly blind and just ready to be done. She could not really care for herself and did not really have anything more to live for. She was the smartest of her family, outlived her hardworking husband and the only one who did not have children. She accepted what life dealt her and passed in God's time without remorse.
