Hope might be good in the sense that it keeps you from giving up but hope should not be a substitute for prophylactic action. We need to protect ourselves because needed changes are not likely.

Nobody running for President, Senator, Representative, or Governor is capable of bringing about the needed change. I am not talking about just those on the ballot I am talking about anyone who mounted a campaign. The current sociopolitical structures are so entrenched that sufficient changes are not going to be a consequence of elections but the result of realization of the coming disasters. It will be too little too late and then an overreaction.

It might be good that you ran off to a remote island.
