How do you know this, can you provide substantiation? Has the number of mismanaged companies grown faster than the total number of companies? Even if what you said is true and supported by evidence I don' think the change is that significant. Interestingly enough many mismanaged companies make pretty good profits but yes it does cause needless suffering of employees and customers.

I resisted the peter principal for years and dodged management assignments. Finally, management insisted that I accept a management position. Just a few years later I was laid off. No joke. I never wanted to be a manager. I was a good manager but that kind of upset them, they did not want someone like me who would stand up for customers and my team. They wanted someone who would lie to customers and beat up on employees to milk them for more productivity.

Your idea of mismanagement is considered excellent management in some circles.
