I am a bit skeptical of this:

"The most visible number is 550,000, which is the number of extra homes that will need to be built every year, on top of the 1.5 million homes that need to be built just to keep up with demand."

The U.S. population is growing at a rate of 1.3 million people per year. The average household size is 2.5 persons so we should only need to add 520 thousand homes/apartments to the housing stock keep up with demand. We would need to build more than that as some homes/apartments are abandoned or destroyed but certainly not 1.5 or 2 million new residences.

Many people don't seem to see that immigration creates a third of this housing demand as a third of the U.S. population growth is the result of immigration. Reducing immigration would reduce the need for new homes and schools and would reduce the crowding/wear and tear on our transportation infrastructure.
