I am a patient sculptor

I have much unfinished work. Trying to beat the clock just leads to shoddy outcomes. 30-year Ports take, you know 30 years. I don’t focus on just one project at a time. That leads to things like writers block. I let my mind and attention wander where it may. Give inspiration its due, you can’t force it.

If I start half a dozen project and a few years later some are just stagnating, I don’t sweat it. I may finish them someday or maybe not. They might become inspiration for version 2 or who knows what.

Remember it is the journey not the destination by which we grow. I know we must finish some things to pay the bills but some of the most important things I might do may not generate revenue. That does not mean they were failures. Some of my “failures” were the most valuable learning experiences.

Most of my greatest break throughs come when I am working on something else or just not working at all. While I am no Buddhist, I think of it as a sort of “Zen” thing. Take the pressure off your mind and let it relax and “poof” up pops the missing link. I know it seems a huge luxury to just chill but chill you must if you really want an “aha” moment.

Excellence cannot be rushed.

Inspiration cannot be planned.

True greatness does not happen overnight.
