I am not sure of Medium's motives in this application of a double standard, but it stifles debate and critical discussions. I too have been blocked and warned, warned just once. I think you get warned if anyone reports you, valid or not. I have many times been blocked. I see the blocking as being of two types. Type one, the fragile as you call them, snowflakes as they are referred elsewhere, overly sensitive, take offence for anything that is not complementary. Type two, strong advocates of flawed ideas, they know that their ideas can't stand the light of day or vigorous debate so the shutdown any debate before it could develop. Type ones are the ones most likely to report you. Type two probably won't bother and probably can't even figure out what to report since you might not have said anything personal or even vaguely offensive.

An associated behavior, I engaged in a discussion with a sensitive, fragile type writer whose second iteration responses I never got to read, they showed up in my notifications as response by deleted user. I don't know what happened, I did not report them, I don't know if their response violated the rules, I don't know if someone else reported them, I don't even know if they were banned or whether they just left. Puzzling.
