I am sad you did not use a Penguin picture. Regarding the poor gettering poorer, maybe in England I did not do research but in the U.S. it is not so much the poor getting poorer but the poor feeling like they are not getting richer or they feel poorer by comparison to the rapidly getting richer rich. You are right that this is being played to the hilt by those that can use it for political gain.

Anything short of big bags of helicopter money will not change that dynamic. Even big bags of helicopter money will not stop the rich from getting richer even if you tax them to create the helicopter money. All money flows up to the rich. If you give money to the poor, it quickly ends up in a rich person's pockets.

The rich done fight to stop handouts to the poor because they worry about the money. They worry that if the poor get too comfortable, they will be less compliant slaves. The rich are not happy they have to go overseas for cheap labor, they would much prefer local cheap labor.
