I did just forfeit some sick days but they are annual use it or lose it days off. They are not vacation or holidays so if the time off is not for health reasons then you can’t use sick time.

I have hundreds of hours of unused vacation time, so why would I cheat and use sick time for vacation.

The law might not require paid time off in the U.S. but a lot of us get paid time off. The fact of Europe shutting down for a month each summer is not without its drawbacks. We were working with an Italian firm, trying to resolve issues in August was frustrating. It would seem better to not have everyone take off at the same time. Doesn’t that crowd the resorts. A more level demand would seem better.
