I do support UBI. We would already have it if the rich supported it. They don't, just like they don't really support charity, real help for the poor.

I have proposed a Green New Deal transferable carbon ration that could work much like UBI. This valuable ration would be given to everyone.

I am not uber wealthy so I don't know about them (I don't socialize in those circles) but I am rich and don't think the poor deserve to be poor. I think the wealthy rarely think about the poor, they have other things to occupy themselves. If you are smart enough, your know that the causes of poverty are numerous and only a few of them are deserved. Most importantly, poverty even if deserved does not benefit society. We are all diminished by greater poverty and favored by less poverty. Poverty is a blight that hurts even those who are not poor. Even the rich can't completely avoid its impacts.

My experience with people who think the poor deserve to be poor (and talk about it) are the lower middle class and working class. They think the poor are poor because the are not willing to be wage slaves like themselves. These people think they earned their wage slave positions and don't understand the privilege that got them there.
