I don't believe 'Israel's attack is not revenge. It's survival." Israel's national existence is not threatened, it was and is secure. The people of Israel will be under terroristic threat, probably for decades because of the local animosity resulting from decades almost a century of conflict in the region. Collective punishment only increases the terroristic threat not diminishing it. I believe Israel's strategy is counterproductive regarding reducing the terroristic threat, but I expect it is popular with the Israel electorate which is important for the current leadership.
