I don't have an MBA but I have coworkers who do. For them the MBA paid off but mostly because the company paid for the MBA. I think getting an MBA when you are on a Corporate Management track is a good idea and even better if your company will pay for it. I did not want to be a Manager so I did not have any interest in getting an MBA. I was most interested in doing interesting work, not managing the people who go to do the interesting work. They sent me to program management training and made me a Manager anyway.

The Billionaires don't need an MBA, Billionaires are sociopaths who don't follow convention. Billionaires hire an army of MBA's and then overrule them when they don't like the answers.

Working in a business before you get your MBA will help you grasp the MBA concepts and its pitfalls. Getting an MBA before you have any work experience is not the best idea.
