I don't know. I don't see a winning formula in this story except that yes, we need a better approach. You might be onto something but it does not seem fully formed.

I don't know if your course work covered it but I think there are more than one kind of pathology. Some people's depression is related to trauma and PTSD. Some peoples depression is all internal and really had little external influences. People see life as pointless and full of disappointment that overshadows any joy. Possibly just a case of unrealistic expectations. I think some forms of depression can be an inherited trait.

I think you are focused, understandably, on PTSD. What to do for people who's PTSD is caused by acts they committed that could rightfully be considered capital crimes. How are these people to free themselves from the bondage of their sins, Confess, repent, accept just punishment and make amends? Be born again? That is a pretty tall order. The wrongs I have committed are pretty petty but I don't think a week goes by where I don't spend some time thinking about them with regret.
