Kondo has reached a level of ubiquity that’s uncommon for book authors.
I don’t think I know anyone who has heard of her.
Get rid of everything that does not spark joy in your life. While I am thankful for the dishwasher, clothes washer, dryer, vacuum, table saw, ice maker, stove, wallpaper, mill work, windows and window treatments. None of them spark joy. I see faults with or have had frustration with all of them. Yes, some of them need to go but only to be replaced and I doubt the replacements would provide more than a momentary spark of joy.
Getting up at 6, what is magic about that or getting up early. I get up at 7:30 on work days and often I get up before the alarm but if I had my choice I would not set an alarm and probably would sleep later. I like staying up past midnight, often because I am engrossed in a book I don’t want to put down.
Where does she live that opening a window in the morning is always a good idea. Around here if you want fresh air then step outside and not let the heat and humidity into the house we so expensively air condition. Most incense is deliberate pollution of the air but I guess if you are opening the windows that is not such a big deal.
I am happy she is happy or at least I hope she is happy. I hope she does not get into a rut. “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” I am sure she is not a little mind and she will change her ways over time as her life changes. Someday the kids will read their own stories at bedtime. My kids don’t even live here anymore.
There was nothing about bathing, house work or yard work in the routine. I have to assume she at least bathes maybe they hire someone to do the house work and yard work. I think it is essential that we do our own house work and yard work to stay grounded as individuals and not become too hoity toity.
