I don't think you meant this the way you worded it.

"In this case, let’s try not to adapt. Only by seeing clearly what is happening around us will we retain the ability to fight it."

Of course, we will adapt. You mean "don't unconsciously adapt," The climate is changing, you even said so, many of us have made conscious adaptations, have implemented conscious mitigations and are working consciously to minimize out contributions to climate change.

Do you understand that everyone has to prioritize their responses to the world's problems? There are some problems that I don't give more than a passing thought. I don't do anything about hungry people hundreds or thousands of miles away but I do help feed local people who look for help with food.

Some people are overwhelmed with their own situation, you can't expect them to feed the poor or fight climate change. We can take some actions that reduce their contributions to climate change but they won't consciously work to reduce their impacts, they don't have what it takes to do it on their own.

We have forms of action in regard to climate change.

Minimize

Mitigate

Adapt

Why don't you just come out and say, we need pull our heads out of the sand and work harder to minimize climate change.

Don't fool yourself, we will mitigate and adapt to the climate changes we get.

In my personal situation (considering my age and wealth) I probably would be fine not worrying about minimize or mitigate and just adapt but I have been working to minimize my footprint for more than a decade. I was a conservationist/environmentalist before climate change became a thing.
