I feel so much better since I gave up hope. Not completely, I still have hope but my hope can't be dashed because my hope is weak. I expect if not the worst, something far from the best. I also am older in just a decade or so my world is likely to be much smaller, probably an assisted living facility or some such or I might even be dead. The things I care about become fewer and fewer each day.
