I felt sadness and outrage at George Floyd's murder but no surprise. I have always had a fear of cops or any authority figures. I always keep a low profile. My wife thinks me not being anonymous here is too much exposure.

Being white I can't know how it feels for black people. I am antiracist but I am sure that America and the world will be racist for generations after I have died. White privilege and white fragility will continue for at least another century. There is very little justice in the world even if you are white.

My outrage barely burns. There is so much that is so wrong that my outrage has callouses. It should be white peoples task to end racism but if you wait for white people to do it, it will never happen. Everyone acts in their own self-interest so until enough white people believe that racism is hurting them they will only virtue signal and not take real action.

Why is racism more important than climate change, sexism, poverty, healthcare, migration, student debt or the budget deficit?

I feel better now that I have given up hope. Hope for change was a waste.
