I have a problem with people talking so much about this. If we keep talking more people will take out loans expecting they won't have to pay them back. We need to set a before date on the debt. If you did not borrow the money before, like maybe 2018, you can't get forgiveness. It has clearly been on the radar since that time that taking on too much debt to pay for college is a trap. Anyone who borrowed money since 2018 should not qualify for forgiveness.
We need to make it clear this forgiveness is a one time Mulligan for all the parties who got sucked into this trap. The institutions what received the money need to also be held accountable.
