I have long maintained that the U.S.A. is a second world country. Not first or third but the biggest of the BRICS an advanced but developing country. Not as advanced as Europe, Japan, S. Korea, or the Nordic/Scandinavian countries. Development/advancement is uneven across the U.S.A. with many pockets of stagnation and poverty and even areas that are not even inhabited. I would also add Canada and Australia to the list of "Second World" countries.
