I have to wonder, will in the end the Ukrainians be better off for not surrendering without a shot. If somehow Russia is stopped, the damage and the people hurt/dead cannot be undone. The economic and environmental damage cannot be undone. The horrors both sides suffered cannot be unlived and forgotten. Putin is certainly evil for what he has done but if he succeeds all the above will be for nothing. If he escalates to WMD's worse is to come. Tens of thousands of people would not have died if Ukraine had surrendered, and they will have died for nothing if Russia makes big gains. War is almost never the right answer. Not enough effort was made to find a peaceful solution.
