I think this is a good thing.

… average length of time people own a vehicle has decreased as leasing and ride-sharing proliferate. Physical media sales have plummeted as people shift to streaming movies, TV and music. Apparel companies are launching clothing rental services as an alternative to stocking a closet with purchased items.
Ownership is dead. The access economy has arrived.

I think this is a good thing. Less waste, movie rentals were way more popular than buying a movie back when you could not stream.
