I will lay out the dire circumstances in which we find ourselves, point to the interrelated nature of these threats, and lead to the conclusion that it is unlikely humans will undertake the exhaustive efforts necessary to ensure our species will survive for another 1,000 years on Earth.

I think you are a bit too pessimistic. Obviously some life has survived the planet’s many extinctions.

we have been given no reason to believe our species will last longer than any of the others that have come and gone before us.

Many species have survived millions of years, we are a long way to go before we even challenge some of the other younger species.

Like you noted humans are very adaptable. Billions of humans might die in the next couple centuries but millions will survive. The current culture and society might not survive but that is probably a good thing.
