I think you miss the whole sufsufficient homestead thing.

Necessities of modern life are not necessities. The phone, doctor and prescriptions are not necessities they are modern luxuries or at least to a homestead prepper.

If collapse comes the question is what do we collapse too. 1860, 1200, 400CE or do we go back to BCE. I think if we can avoid war with weapons of mass destruction we will not collapse back to the stone age.
