I think you understand and that is just a phrase you wanted to turn. Cars (big trucks) are more than transportation they are status symbols. Brand as much as model made your statement, Cadilac or Mercadies, or Rolls Royse.

I am more with you; I don't want to display some status. I am low key, more of a sleeper than a show-er. I have the biggest gun anyone is likely to shoot, and I like the attention I get at the shooting range. There was a time when I drove an unusual car, I enjoyed turning heads. I was taking a road trip and one time filling it with gas, I had someone ask me if it was a Jaguar. It was not but he was impressed anyway. Maybe you don't have a vain bone in your body but most of us want that kind of attention. If your book made you millions, what would you do with your money and fame?

I know it is evil, but I get some joy out of making people jealous. I try not to be really bad about it. I could buy a dozen Rolex and have a pound of gold chain, but I don't. I actually live very modestly beside a few indulgences. I drive a five year old small pickup truck with a rack on the bed like a work truck. I walk to the store and rarely buy expensive food. I have had neighbors stop and ask if I wanted a ride, like maybe I was walking because I could not drive. I tell them I walk for fun and my health. I am not sure they believe me. They don't know I am richer than they are.
