I think your story is a bit dishonest. You seem to only recently been making the kind of money you are talking about. In December you claimed to have made less than $2,000 on Medium. Realistic claims about earnings to be fair need to be reported on an annualized basis or at least quarterly. Oh, by the way if you are self-employed you should be filing quarterly with the IRS and don't forget to pay your social security and Medicare taxes as well.
When I was laid-off almost a decade ago, I turned to gig work. My going rate was $100 an hour, after 8 months or so they told me I would have to come work as a regular employee with health insurance and regular withholding.
I was paying the self-employment taxes and my own health insurance. Gig work is not better than a good job. With Gig work you are always having to hustle and gig writing pushes people to write was will sell, be popular not necessarily right good and meaningful works. I have read the work of many here and you can tell that they don't have a lot of good material so the publish some lame stuff to keep stuff in the pipeline.
How much time do you have to spend on social media promoting your work. The self help stories on Medium are some of the worst. I wonder how much you will make for me read and response.
Don't you feel bad for selling your guide to all those suckers.
