I was around and the early 2000's recession seemed kind of like a soft landing to me. I had rotated out of tech stock and stocks in general and while the markets took a hit, unemployment and economy in general did not suffer greatly. I don't think we even had two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. I think we are looking at something similar like you have indicated.
