I will agree you have legitimate concerns.

Why, when Israel engages in combat with Hamas, it’s called genocide, and when Winston Churchill killed 25k Dresdens, it wasn’t?

Neither is a genocide but both were/are inappropriate disproportional acts of war that might rise to the level of war crimes. Chruchill's actions like Truman's provided a basis for looking at the concept of "Total War" that led to a new paradigm where it is a crime to punish the civilian population of your enemies using disproportionate force or terroristic tactics. Attacks must be directed at combatants or military infrastructure with appropriate precautions to prevent civilian deaths and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Hamas and Israel are conducting their conflict in an illegal manner.

Your fears of terroristic attacks is legitimate as are the fears of Israeli attacks on civilians of residents of Gaza. In this illegally conducted conflict Israel as clearly exceeded "an eye for and eye," Israel carries greater guilt. Is your fear greater than that of a Gazan?
