I wonder if wealth and class are two different things. Is class a life style which is more driven by income or the desire to live a certain lifestyle while the accumulation of wealth might require that live a more frugal lifestyle.

Wealth is something that is accumulated over time so given equal incomes the younger people will more likely to be less wealthy even if they live a similar lifestyle.

I was in the 1% by income almost from the day I graduated college but I had no net worth no financial wealth, no capital.

It wasn’t until decades later that I joined the 1% by wealth. It took me a decade to accumulate enough wealth to buy my first home and even then it was only because good fortune provided me a windfall type opportunity.

$421,926 a year in the US, $53,000/year in the World —

$10,374,030 in net worth to be among the top 1% in the US, $871,320 in net worth to be among the top 1% in the World.

I will never be in the top 1% in the US in either category but I have squeaked into the top 10% in both categories in the US and will stay their until I retire when my income will probably drop significantly.
