I wonder if you do a similar thing for charity that actually directly benefits the poor and disadvantaged.

Cash donations to local churches don't help the poor very much, most of that money goes to maintaining the Church and paying the Minister, etc.

Don't even get me started on Mega Churches.

Large donations by the wealthy get gobbled up in ways that keep most of the money from trickling down. I do understand that it often does help the poor but it rarely puts cash in the hands of the poor.

Do not under rate food donations to food pantries or soup kitchens. That food actually equals cash to those that use those services as money they don't have to spend on food is cash to pay bills or rent.
