If that is the case, you should ask your manager/employer for more tasks. Of course, you should not have to do that, your manager should know your workload and adjust accordingly. Where I work, we are understaffed due to funding issues and difficulty in finding qualified applicants. All our designers and analysts have enough work for 80 hours a week but because of concern for burnout we don't push people to work overtime. We are missing deadlines and milestones. It can't be avoided, and it does not appear more help is on the way. We pay these people very well; they don't need a second job. They need to use their evenings and weekends to connect with family and friends and recharge their batteries.
