If you wear the badge of socialism you will put many people off because they don't see -

"Socialism is talking about human rights and social issues and framing it in a way to uplift us all."

People see Socialism as a movement to create a system of government that dictates solutions top down and expects compliance to government prescriptions. They see Socialist as Leftists who want the Federal Government to impose Leftist solutions on the general population.

I see also the mirror image where Conservatives want the Federal Government to impose Conservative solutions on the general population.

Myself, I don't see all problems as something that require a solution from the Federal Government.

You don't expect the United Nations to solve the world's problems or do you. They don't have the means or power and even if they did, they would screw things up as often as not. Too big, too clumsy too corrupt.

I would say the same thing about our Federal Government. Too big, too clumsy and too corrupt. They should stick to fixing things only they can fix and that is why the Constitution assigns so much power to the States. States need to up their game, raise more taxes, tackle more problems. Think Global, Act Local. Stop looking to Uncle Sam to solve what you consider problems, fix them in your back yard first and show the nation and the world how right is done.

Make your state provide "free at the point of use healthcare and tuition free university."

Why does improving infrastructure fall to the federal government?

What you consider Socialism needs a new name. The name Socialism is already in the dictionary with a different definition and that one is burned into the brains of many people. By using that label you divide what you would unite.
