It does sort of matter why you are writing.

I don't take a penny from Medium and I pay for my subscription.

I don't know how Medium works so I might have this wrong but I was thinking that if my work was free more people would have access to it.

I write to inform, I want what I write to be as available as it can be. I know that less people see what I right because I do nothing to promote it.

I agree "We don’t need another Tim Denning because he’s ridiculously helpful in a way that only he can be." I often disagree with him. He is a good writer and worth reading but that does not mean he isn't often wrong.
