It is not quite that simple. They don't deny their Hispanic origins. They just think of the more recent migriants as a bit different than themselves and understand that they might be in competition with the new arrivals. The new arrivals are more and move coming from Central America and are less Hispanic and more Native American than earlier waves of Hispanic/Latino.

Too often people treat the Black Community and the Hispanic/Latino Community, each as a block but internal to each demographic there are divisions. Some Hispanic people look down on people with a more mixed genetic pool. They take pride in looking and being more European and less Native American. Locally we have poor Blacks and Rich Blacks and Middle Class (wanting to be accepted into Rich culture) Blacks.

The different racial groups have many members who were ripe to dump the Democrats but held firm because Black candidates were always Democrats, that is changing. Right now we have a Supreme Court Judge who is Black and is probably deepest into the MAGA pocket.

Black, White, Up, Down, Left, Right, etc. have all been disrupted, no longer monoliths.
