It seems more time off is slow to be adopted. I have had to remind my leadership about the Fridays off policy. They feel that it really only applies to lower level workers and that senior people should work 24/7. I attended two meetings yesterday, my Friday off. Some customers don't really get it and leadership does not push it. I made a point the customer could not ignore about these meetings were on my day off. Personally it is not an issue for me but I am in a position to make it an issue without jeopardizing my position that less senior people probably can't . I feel that those in privileged positions need to stand up for those less privileged.
Heathcare workers are in a sort of catch 22. We need them to work more hours and they need more time to recharge. Rock/hard place. What to do when people's lives depend on your sacrifice and risk of burn out. Let someone die today so that you can be there to save two tomorrow?
