Let me start by expressing my appreciation for teachers. That doesn't change the fact her financial insecurity is the result of her decisions. Where I went to primary and high school, teaching jobs were prized. They paid much better than farm, factory or retail jobs.

Where I went to college it appeared that the professors were well paid, there were few if any adjuncts. At that time the school did not offer any doctorates.

I didn’t just step out into a world of financial security, I fled from a community in financial decline and plotted a path to a brighter future. I moved 1500 miles away. I was lucky that I was enamored with a field of endeavor that is financially and emotionally rewarding.

I graduated from a high school that did not offer any advanced placement classes and did not offer a single calculus class. I still aced my freshman calculus classes.
